Through the financial support of the PTA, the PS 199 community of students, faculty, and administration, has launched the RULER program.

The RULER program was developed by the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, where they teach people of all ages how to develop their emotional intelligence to create a more effective and compassionate society.

RULER is an acronym that stands for:

Recognizing

Understanding

Labeling

Expressing

Regulating

The RULER program will be rolled out over the next two years, providing training for our teachers who have already begun to implement the first phase of the program in all of our classrooms.

You can learn more about the RULER program and the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence here.

Assistant Principal Beseda presented a program for Parents As Partners on January 26, 2017. You can find the link to the RULER/Great Schools website that he discussed HERE.

Assistant Principal Beseda and the RULER teacher team presented an overview of the program and discussed ways parents can implement strategies and use the program at home at our January, 2016 PTA meeting. A copy of their presentation and a handout of strategies for home implementation are provided below.
